About Prague 10

The municipal district Prague 10 has more than 110,000 inhabitants. It covers Vršovice, most of Strašnice and Malešice, and parts of Vinohrady, Záběhlice, Michle and Žižkov. The administrative district, which we use to group clinics, also includes Prague 15 (Hostivař, Horní Měcholupy and neighbouring areas), Prague 22 (Uhříněves) and several smaller municipal districts on the south-eastern edge of the city. So a clinic with a “Praha 15” address appears on this page.

Vršovice, next to Vinohrady, is the most central and densely built part of the district, with older apartment blocks around Vršovické náměstí and Krymská street. Further out, Strašnice and Malešice are quieter residential areas, and Hostivař and Horní Měcholupy are dominated by housing estates.

Where the clinics are

  • Vršovice: around Vršovické náměstí and the streets towards Michle and the Eden area, within easy reach of the centre by tram.
  • Strašnice: residential streets near the line A stations of Strašnická and Skalka.
  • Hostivař (Prague 15): near the eastern end of metro line A.

Getting to a dentist in Prague 10

Metro line A serves the north of the district, with stations at Strašnická, Skalka and Depo Hostivař. Želivského is just over the boundary in Prague 3. Much of Vršovice has no metro, but it is very well served by trams, with stops including Vršovické náměstí, Krymská and Kubánské náměstí. From Vršovice it is about 10–15 minutes by tram to I. P. Pavlova or Náměstí Míru. Buses link Hostivař and the outer areas with the metro.

Check the nearest stop on each clinic’s profile. In Prague 10 the tram is often quicker than the metro.

Choosing a dentist in Prague 10

  • Languages. Few clinics in Prague 10 explicitly confirm English speaking staff. If you need English, ask when you book, or consider a clinic in neighbouring Prague 2 (Vinohrady), where more clinics state that they treat patients in English. It is a short tram ride from Vršovice.
  • Insurance. Several Prague 10 clinics have contracts with VZP and other Czech public insurers, which matters if you are in the public system or are using a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). One specialist implant centre in the district is fully private and doesn’t work with any insurer. Each profile shows what the clinic has stated.
  • Specialist care. Alongside general practices, Prague 10 has a specialist implant centre and an orthodontic practice (braces). Use the treatment filter to find them.
  • New patients. Some clinics here say they are accepting new patients. Ask about waiting times when you call.

Emergency dentist in Prague 10

There is no public dental emergency service in Prague 10. For adults, the nearest is the Thomayer University Hospital site at Vídeňská 800/5 in Prague 4 or, depending on where you are, the services in Prague 1 (Spálená street and Na Františku). Children are treated at Motol University Hospital in Prague 5. You don’t need to be registered, and there is a standard fee of CZK 90. At least one Prague 10 clinic says it offers urgent appointments during opening hours. See emergency dentist in Prague for hours, and call 155 or 112 for severe swelling or difficulty breathing.

Registering with a dentist

If you have moved to Vršovice or Strašnice, registering with a local dentist makes routine care much easier. Our guide on how to register with a dentist in the Czech Republic explains the process, and how Czech health insurance covers dental care explains the costs.
