About Prague 7

Prague 7 sits in a bend of the Vltava, just north of the Old Town across the river. It is one of the smallest districts in Prague and includes Holešovice, Letná, Bubny, part of Bubeneč, Troja and a small part of Libeň. It has two of the city’s largest parks, Letná and Stromovka. It also has the Prague Zoo in Troja, the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, the National Technical Museum, the Veletržní palác gallery and the AC Sparta football stadium.

Holešovice has changed a lot in recent years. Former industrial sites and the river port have been turned into offices, apartments and galleries. Most of the clinics we list in Prague 7 are in Holešovice.

Where the clinics are

  • Around Nádraží Holešovice: several clinics are on Jankovcova and nearby streets, in the newer office and residential developments near the river, a short walk from the metro and railway station.
  • Central Holešovice: around Ortenovo náměstí and Janovského street, near the trade fair grounds (Výstaviště) and Stromovka.
  • Bubenské nábřeží: by the river, towards the Holešovice market.

Letná and Troja have fewer clinics. If you live there, a clinic in Holešovice or in neighbouring Prague 6 (Dejvice) or Prague 8 may be closer.

Getting to a dentist in Prague 7

Metro line C has two stations in Prague 7: Vltavská, on the southern edge, and Nádraží Holešovice, a combined metro, railway and bus station. Nádraží Holešovice is about 10 minutes from Muzeum. Trams run through Holešovice and across Letná, with stops including Ortenovo náměstí, Výstaviště and Nádraží Holešovice. Buses run from Nádraží Holešovice to Troja and the zoo. Prague 7 is compact, so most clinics are within 10–15 minutes’ walk of a tram or metro stop.

Choosing a dentist in Prague 7

  • Languages. Few clinics in Prague 7 explicitly state that their staff speak English. Some have English or multilingual websites, which we mark as “English website”. If you need treatment in English, ask when you book, or consider an English speaking clinic in Prague 8 or Prague 6, both close by.
  • Insurance. Several clinics here have contracts with VZP and other Czech public insurers. This matters if you are in the public system, or if you are an EU visitor using the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which is only accepted at contracted dentists.
  • New patients. Several Prague 7 clinics say they are accepting new patients. Places can fill quickly, so call more than one clinic.
  • Hours. Some clinics here open from 7:30 and stay open until 18:00–19:00 on certain days, which makes appointments before or after work possible.

Emergency dentist in Prague 7

There is no public dental emergency service in Prague 7. The nearest for adults is Nemocnice Na Františku in Prague 1, just across the river from Letná. The other is the polyclinic on Spálená street. Children are treated at Motol University Hospital in Prague 5. There is a standard fee of CZK 90, and you don’t need to be registered. At least one Prague 7 clinic says it offers urgent appointments during opening hours. Check the emergency dentist page for current hours, and call 155 or 112 for severe swelling or difficulty breathing.

Registering with a dentist

If you have moved to Holešovice or Letná, registering with a local dentist makes routine care easier. Our guide on how to register with a dentist in the Czech Republic explains the process, and how Czech health insurance covers dental care explains what you’ll pay.
