How we confirm a dentist speaks English

We list a clinic as English speaking when its website offers information in English and states that treatment is available in English, or when the clinic confirms it to us directly. We don’t test individual dentists’ language skills. At some clinics only some of the dentists speak English, so ask for an English speaking dentist when you book.

Tips for booking an English speaking dentist in Prague

  • Email first. A written request in English is often easier than a phone call, and gives you a record of what was agreed.
  • Ask about new patients. Finding a dentist with space can be hard in Prague. In 2022 the Czech Dental Chamber reported that 27.7% of insured people in Prague weren’t registered with a dentist. Ask early whether a practice will register you for regular care or only offers one-off treatment.
  • Bring your insurance card. If you’re covered by Czech public health insurance, ask whether the clinic has a contract with your insurer. A dentist without a contract can charge you directly for treatment.
  • Ask for a written quote. For anything beyond a check-up, ask for a written treatment plan and price before you agree to treatment.
  • Bring your records. X-rays and notes from your previous dentist help, especially for ongoing treatment.
